Oil on Canvas Seascape Gallery

I’m still discovering how important maritime life is to me. In the Great Lakes town on the Canadian border where I grew up, freighters’ steam whistles were a constant part of our daily soundtrack. Our uncles worked on a few of those ships. After college I served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years of active duty. Two of these were at sea on CGC Kukui WAK-186, from 1970 until we decommissioned her in 1972. Her portrait is the painting that got me back into painting in 2007. I still miss being at sea. You’ll see more of it here in the coming months.
